Collection and Processing

Sample Collection

Serum

Collect at least 5 ml whole blood in a red top "clot tube", centrifuge and freeze serum in 0.5ml aliquots.

Plasma

Collect at least 4-6 ml whole blood in EDTA tube(s). Centrifuge and collect plasma. Centrifuge plasma a second time, collect and freeze in 0.5 ml aliquots.

Urine

Collect 2-3 ml urine by free catch or cystocentesis and freeze in 0.5 ml aliquots.

Whole Blood

Collect 22 ml whole blood for 2 PaxGene RNA tubes (2.5 ml. each) and 2 PaxGene DNA tubes (8.5 ml. each).

Tissue Processing

Begin tissue processing within 5 minutes after the tissue has been resected. Process tumor and normal tissue for storage 3 different ways:

Flash frozen in 100 mg aliquots
Embedded in OCT medium
Fixed in formalin
