Community Practice Service

Our Services

The Ohio State University Veterinary Hospital offers excellence in veterinary care. We offer a Community Practice service that provides your pet with the best in primary care.

The Community Practice clinic is an essential and integral part of our teaching program. Under the direct supervision of our faculty veterinarians, our students perform preventative healthcare exams and provide treatment for both acute and chronic illnesses in cats and dogs. Two dogs sitting in the snowOur students also develop communication skills by interacting with and informing owners and caretakers regarding issues such as parasite control, weight management, senior pet care, behavior and dentistry. We can tailor a wellness plan that best fits both your pet's and family's lifestyles. When you bring your pet to our Community Practice clinic, your animal will receive thorough, integrative medical care.

In order to provide continuity of care, we encourage you to bring your pet in annually for physical exams and vaccination updates.

Service Highlights

What to Expect

Senior Veterinary students are an important part of our Community practice service (or team). A senior veterinary student will greet you and ask you questions regarding your pet's health and perform a physical examination on your pet. The student will present this information to a Veterinary Clinician and together they will develop recommendations for your pet. All pets are given a thorough examination by a licensed veterinarian. Once the team has collaborated, they will meet with you to discuss their recommendations. Our wellness appointments last approximately 60 minutes.
