Dear Class of 2012:
Welcome to the College of Veterinary Medicine at the Ohio State University. We are delighted you chose to become a Buckeye. We are looking forward to you being on campus and continuing your journey to become a veterinarian. You are the best of the best, and we wish you well on this path.
To help you with your transition into veterinary school, we have a few programs in place. The first program is New student orientation, which will be held on September 19, 22 and 23. This event is an opportunity for you to get to know your classmates and become familiar with our college. Therefore, it is important that you attend.
The second program is the "Big Sib" program. Every first year student will be matched up with a second year student that will serve as your "Big Sib." Your "Big Sib" will help guide you through the ups and downs of veterinary school and help you transition into this new phase of your life.
You will be receiving more detailed information about New Student Orientation as well as the "Big Sib" program in the near future. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at (614) 292-8831 or e-mail.
Again, Congratulations on being accepted to The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Welcome to the Buckeye State!
Within the next few days you will be receiving an email with a link and instructions for a personal assessment activity. This activity is part of your orientation, and it will be discussed on the morning of September 19th as part of your team building activities. Please be on the lookout for this email, and be sure to complete the activity before the deadline listed in the email. We look forward to seeing you all on September 19th!
We are having problems sending e-mails to a few new students OSU e-mail address. If you are having your e-mails forwarded to another account, please make sure you clear your inbox. In some cases our e-mails are being rejected by yahoo, gmail, etc. You may need to add addresses from "lists.acs.ohio-state.edu" to your safe senders list in your e-mail account settings so it is not identified as spam. Student Affairs has attempted to contact individuals whose e-mails addresses are being returned to sender.
If you have not been receiving e-mails from our office, please contact pugh.102@osu.edu or call (614) 247-1512.

The Center for Disease Control recommends that individuals participating in a medical or veterinary health care setting receive specific vaccinations. At the Ohio State University, all veterinary students are required to have their vaccination records on file with the Student Health Center. Please complete the Animal Handling form as well as the Immunization Record form that are listed below.
***It is not mandatory to complete the Immunization Record Form by August 31st. The rabies vaccine series is to be completed by the end of your first year. There is currently a temporary shortage of rabies vaccine. This means the rabies vaccine will only be given to those who have an animal bite or some other possible exposure to rabies. The PPD, a current tetanus/diphtheria are to be updated by the end of fall quarter. We should be able to provide the pre-exposure vaccine on schedule in the Winter or Spring.
